Poland’s accession to the EU brought about large-scale immigration from Poland to the UK. Hundreds of thousands of Poles, tempted by the prospects of better earnings, left their homeland in search of a better life. Over the years, many of the most enterprising ones began realising an ambition to attain something more than just an ordinary job in a British company. They decided to start their own businesses to firstly to service a new market of Polish consumers, but increasingly to fill the gaps they discerned on the British market. What followed was a great number of Polish business start-ups, in particular in the construction, retail, HoReCa, IT and business service sectors. The Congress of Polish Entrepreneurs in the UK is a culmination of several years of work within the Polish entrepreneur community and a natural response to the need to bring Polish businesses together.

This Congress is organised by the British Polish Chamber of Commerce and Polish Business Link and takes place on 9 October 2014 at the European Parliament information office and the EC representation in the UK. This Congress – the first of its kind to be held in the UK – is unprecedented in the history of the EU. The organisers are convinced that it will be a great success as they have extensive experience in organising different meetings and seminars for Polish entrepreneurs operating across the UK since 2006. All meetings and seminars organised so far focused on such ideas as business growth, the British business environment, modern marketing or networking; they enjoyed great popularity from the outset. Over the past two years alone, eight business seminar mixers from London to Leeds, from Manchester to Edinburgh attracted almost 600 participants determined to grow their own businesses.
